I played Modern Warfare 4 at Infinity Ward, let’s talk about it

Infinity Ward is set to release Modern Warfare 4, its first entry in the franchise in four years. The game will feature the return of the DMZ extraction mode and is set in South Korea. It introduces apex attachments that fundamentally alter a gun's identity, with unique attachments for each weapon unlocking at full level. Movement mechanics have been revamped for a more fluid experience, allowing rapid mantling and smoother transitions. The initial maps follow a classic three-lane structure but lack innovation. The Gunfight mode returns, now expanded to 10v10 with dynamic maps. Quality-of-life enhancements include improved FOV, depth of field adjustments, refined muzzle smoke/flash effects, and improved hipfire mechanics. Loadouts have been simplified to five attachments per weapon and a standard three-perk system, allowing for more personalized gaming experiences.

Marathon season 2 is kicking off with a free week so new players can try Bungie’s extraction shooter out on a ‘clean slate’

Marathon's second season will begin with an Open Play Week from June 2 to June 9, allowing players to experience the full game for free on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Progress made during this period can be carried over into Season 2. New features include an evolving storyline with new areas such as the Observation science deck, psychological elements like "Psychosis" and "hallucinations," and two new weapons: the D54 Battle Pistol and the KKV SMG. The seasonal reset aims to provide players with a fresh start and a sense of discovery.

Borderlands 4’s new tag-team superboss borrows a killer trick from Dark Souls’ Ornstein and Smough

Borderlands 4 will release update 1.7 on May 28, featuring a new raid boss encounter with two bosses named Subjugator and Thol the Invincible. Players will face these bosses in a tag-team combat style, with dynamic attacks as the battle progresses. Defeating one boss leads to a final confrontation with the survivor gaining a power boost. New rewards include the Pearlescent Ripper SMG, Jail-Broken Gatling, and four legendary items: Lockjaw assault rifle, Shammy Kablammy pistol, Flak Cannon heavy weapon, and Collector energy shield. Each Vault Hunter will receive a unique class mod. The update will also introduce a toggle for shared character progression. A 40% discount on the game is currently available on Steam. Version 1.8 is planned for late June, introducing a Takedown challenge and Bounty Pack 3 DLC.

Apex Legends’ new gun may be the most broken weapon in its history, but boy is it fun to shoot missiles from an SMG

It features a unique ability to fire five homing missiles that deal an additional ten damage each when locked onto an enemy for a sufficient duration. The weapon is equipped with gold attachments and is designed to provide a tactical advantage similar to Valkyrie's abilities, but it has a brief recharge period. The Bird of Prey is not available in ranked matches or competitive formats. Its introduction has led to a chaotic gameplay experience, especially during endgames, but it is intended for casual play.

Apex Legends Season 27 is unleashing one of the wildest care package weapons ever, and I’m so here for it

The CAR SMG will debut in the care package in Apex Legends Season 27, replacing the Triple Take, which will revert to floor loot. The CAR will feature Disruptor rounds, allowing players to toggle between Disruptors and Hammer Points. Additionally, the Double Tap hop-up will be introduced for the Alternator, increasing its fire rate and damage output, enabling both barrels to fire simultaneously. Season 27 is set to launch on November 4.
