Windows 11’s New Xbox Mode is Now Available for More Insiders

Microsoft is expanding the Xbox Mode, previously known as the Xbox Full Screen Experience, to more Insiders, including those on the Canary and Release Preview Channels. The new Xbox Mode can be activated through the Xbox app, Game Bar settings, or by pressing Win + F11, providing a full-screen interface for PC games. The Canary build 29570.1000 also introduces a new Touchpad setting for adjusting the right-click zone size and expands lock screen widget personalization options. For Canary testers on the 28000 series builds, the build 28020.1863 addresses a sign-in issue without introducing new features. The Dev and Beta Channels are receiving updates focused on reliability, including improvements to File Explorer and Windows Hello. The Release Preview Channel is previewing an upcoming optional April update that includes the new Xbox Mode, File Explorer enhancements, haptic feedback for certain pens, a rebranded Drop Tray, taskbar monitoring for AI agents, and revamped voice typing features. Additional reliability enhancements are included for various Windows components.

Samsung Is Ending Its Messages App — What You Need to Do Before July

Samsung is phasing out its native Messages app in favor of Google Messages, with the complete transition expected by the end of July. After this date, users who have not switched may be unable to send or receive messages through Samsung Messages. The change primarily affects users still using Samsung Messages as their default app, while those already on Google Messages will likely notice no difference. Windows 11 cumulative updates KB5083769 & KB5082052 released

Microsoft has released cumulative updates KB5083769 and KB5082052 for Windows 11 versions 25H2, 24H2, and 23H2, incorporating the April 2026 Patch Tuesday security patches. Users can install these updates automatically or manually via the Microsoft Update Catalog. The build numbers will be updated to 26200.8246 for 25H2, 26100.8246 for 24H2, and 22631.6936 for 23H2. Gboard users can access translation by tapping the icon with four squares, dragging the Translate icon to the shortcuts bar, and selecting their desired language to type in the translator text box. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, while lacking some advanced features, still provides a reliable translation experience. Switching languages mid-conversation is generally understood by friends, facilitating smoother communication.

Is Samsung Messages being discontinued? Here’s when and what we know

Samsung Electronics has announced the discontinuation of the Samsung Messages app, with support ceasing in July 2026. Users are encouraged to migrate to Google Messages, which will become the default messaging platform for Samsung Galaxy devices operating on Android 12 or newer. Devices running Android 11 or older will not be affected at this time. After July 2026, Samsung Messages will no longer send or receive texts, except for emergency contacts. Users can download Google Messages from the Google Play Store and set it as their default messaging app. Other messaging app options are available for users who prefer alternatives. Older Samsung Galaxy watches running Tizen OS will not support Google Messages after the transition, but will still allow text message functionality. RCS messaging, integrated into Google Messages, enhances the texting experience with features like read receipts and high-quality media sharing, whereas SMS is limited to basic text messaging.

Microsoft acknowledges Windows 11’s search problems, working on a fix

Microsoft has acknowledged the issues with the search functionality in the Windows 11 Start menu, including slow response times and inaccurate results. Diego Baca, the design lead, confirmed that the company is aware of these problems, which include irrelevant suggestions and unrelated web searches. Microsoft is prioritizing improvements to enhance the performance and reliability of the Start menu search and is working on a comprehensive update to unify the search logic across all Windows platforms. Enhancements are currently in internal testing, but the timeline for public release is uncertain.
