Telegram’s finally getting an official Wear OS app again

Telegram has reintroduced its app for Wear OS smartwatches after a hiatus since 2021. The new version is available to users in the beta program for download from the Play Store. The app features customizable chat backgrounds, a condensed layout for navigating large group chats, and an Open on Phone button for transitioning back to mobile devices. Prior to this, users had to rely on generic notifications or third-party apps for messaging on Wear OS. To install the app, beta participants can access it on the Play Store, and others can join the beta program through Telegram’s Play Store page.

Gemini for Wear OS could also be getting a glow-up soon

Google is Finally Forcing 64-bit on All Wear OS Apps

As of September 15, 2026, all new apps and updates for Wear OS must include a 64-bit version in addition to the existing 32-bit version. The Play Store will block uploads of non-compliant apps after this deadline. Current users of smartwatches running on a 32-bit version of Wear OS will continue to receive app support. The introduction of 64-bit app versions is expected to improve performance, enhance security, and allow for the use of more than 4GB of RAM in smartwatches.

Google embraces the future, mandates 64-bit apps for Wear OS

Google just announced Wear OS 6.1, and it adds a time zone feature I’ve wanted for years

Google has introduced Wear OS 6.1, which includes location-based time zone detection, allowing smartwatches to update time settings automatically based on the user's location without needing a paired smartphone. The update is based on Android 16 QPR2 and does not feature major visual changes.
