Attorney General Tong Announces Investigation Into “Predator’s Paradise” Kik Messenger App

Attorney General William Tong has launched an investigation into MediaLab.AI Inc., the parent company of the messaging app Kik, following allegations of inadequate age verification and content moderation practices. Kik has been criticized for its reputation as a platform for sexual abuse, exploitation, and bullying, particularly among minors, with over one-third of American teens reportedly using the app. A 2025 report ranked Kik as the second worst app for extreme sexual content and the third worst for severe bullying, and the app has been included on the National Center on Child Exploitation's "Dirty Dozen" list. Despite claims of restricting new users to those aged 18 and older as of September 2023, evidence suggests that Kik continued to market to younger audiences, and the app maintained a "Teen" rating until early 2025. The Attorney General's office issued a notice of violation to MediaLab in July 2025 for deficiencies in Kik’s privacy practices and has issued a civil investigative demand for further records related to data processing and content moderation. This investigation is part of a broader effort to protect children from online threats in Connecticut.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife opens fall quota hunt applications – The Advocate-Messenger

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has opened applications for fall quota hunts, including deer, waterfowl, pheasants, and sandhill cranes. Applications can be submitted through the MyProfile online portal until midnight (CT) on September 30. A minimum fee is required per application, and applicants will receive a confirmation number. Results will be posted online by 5 p.m. ET on October 9, 2026. The quota system includes 38 deer quota hunts, waterfowl hunts at five locations, pheasant hunts at three WMAs, and statewide permits for sandhill cranes. Mentored options for youth, mobility-impaired hunts, and a maximum of 10 percent nonresident participation in deer hunts are also included. Selected hunters must purchase necessary licenses and permits before hunting. Dark Sun, D&D’s most heavy metal setting, will be back in 2027

In the 1990s, the Dungeons & Dragons setting known as Dark Sun emerged, depicting a world ravaged by exploitative sorcerer-kings and featuring warriors with psychic abilities. Dark Sun briefly returned during D&D's 4th edition, and there has been growing demand for its revival in the 5th edition. At Gen Con's D&D keynote, Wizards of the Coast announced the return of Dark Sun, along with a new rulebook titled Blood and Power, a setting guide called Edge of Oblivion, and a special edition of the Player's Handbook. All three publications are set for release next year. Due to mature content, these books will be shrink-wrapped and rated 18+ for profanity, bloodshed, nudity, and sexuality.

Amid youth protests, Centre directs blocking of messaging app that works without internet: Developer
