In a bold move to address long-standing criticisms of its flagship operating system, Microsoft is mobilizing a team of seasoned professionals to enhance Windows 11. The initiative comes in the wake of widespread discontent, highlighted by the trending term “Microslop” on social media, which reflects users’ frustrations with the platform.
Strengthening the Windows Experience
Pavan Davuluri, the Executive Vice President of Windows & Devices, is at the forefront of this revitalization effort. However, he is not alone; a cadre of well-respected figures within the tech community is joining forces to restore user confidence in Windows 11.
Among them is Scott Hanselman, a Microsoft Vice President dedicated to elevating the quality of Windows. His involvement signals a commitment to addressing the concerns that have plagued the operating system for years. Additionally, Clint Rutkas, a product manager overseeing key components such as Windows Terminal and PowerToys, is actively seeking collaboration with developers, inviting them to connect via social media platform X.
Another notable addition to this initiative is Rudy Huyn, who is assembling a new team focused on Windows applications. Huyn, a familiar name in the developer community, has a rich history of creating third-party applications for Windows Phone and has held positions at Dropbox prior to his current role at Microsoft, which he assumed in 2019.
In a recent outreach on X, Huyn expressed his enthusiasm for building this new team, stating, “I’m building a new team to work on Windows apps! You don’t need prior experience with the platform; what matters most is strong product thinking and a deep focus on the customer. If you’ve built great apps on any platform and care about crafting meaningful user experiences, I’d love to hear from you. Send me your portfolio via DM.” He also encouraged sharing this opportunity with others who might be interested.
While Huyn has yet to brand his team as “The Avengers,” the analogy is fitting given the formidable talent being assembled to tackle the challenges facing Windows 11. As the company takes these steps, the focus remains on ensuring that the right individuals are in place to drive meaningful improvements to the operating system.
