Since November 12, Windows 10 users have encountered challenges when attempting to update or uninstall certain applications. While one might typically suspect a Windows update as the culprit, this situation diverges from that norm.
Root Cause Identified
Microsoft has officially acknowledged the issue, attributing it to an update of the WinAppSDK 1.6.2 package released on the same day. This glitch specifically impacts applications that rely on the WinAppSDK, which includes a significant number of popular apps.
Users attempting to update affected applications via the Microsoft Store may encounter the error message: “Something happened on our end.” Currently, this issue is notably affecting Microsoft Teams and various third-party applications on Windows 10 version 22H2. Fortunately, other versions of Windows 10, as well as all iterations of Windows 11, remain unaffected.
Microsoft’s Response
In response to the situation, Microsoft is actively working on a resolution. The company has indicated that a fix will be rolled out through Windows Update and other channels in the “coming days.”
Temporary Workaround
For those in urgent need of a solution, a temporary workaround is available for users with administrator privileges. By utilizing specific PowerShell commands, affected devices and applications can be addressed until an official fix is implemented.
