Microsoft has recently initiated a soft launch of its revamped Outlook app, a move that has sparked mixed reactions from users. This new iteration is set to replace not only the previous version of Outlook but also the default Windows Mail & Calendar application, marking a significant shift in the user experience.
Updates and Features
In response to the feedback surrounding the new Outlook, Microsoft has rolled out a Windows 11 update aimed at addressing some of the concerns raised by users. While the core design elements remain largely intact, the update reintroduces a feature that many users found essential in the classic version of Outlook.
The Narrator feature, which automatically reads the contents of emails aloud, has made its return. Although this adjustment may not fully appease those who are dissatisfied with the overall redesign, it demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to listening to user feedback and enhancing accessibility.
Additionally, a new keyboard shortcut has been introduced for the Narrator: Narrator key + control + x. This convenient shortcut allows users to copy the last spoken content directly to their clipboard, streamlining the user experience further.
File Explorer Enhancements
The Windows 11 update, designated as Build 27749, also brings improvements to File Explorer. Microsoft has addressed an issue that caused items in the navigation pane to appear overly spaced, providing a more cohesive layout. Furthermore, a fix has been implemented for RAW images captured in portrait mode, which were previously displaying incorrectly in landscape mode thumbnails.
These updates are currently available to Insiders in the Canary Channel, reflecting Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to refine its software offerings and respond to user needs.
