Microsoft has successfully addressed a significant issue that hindered Windows 10 users from updating their applications through the Microsoft Store. The recent non-security update, designated as KB5046714, has effectively resolved this complication following its installation.
Many Windows 10 users encountered frustrating obstacles when attempting to update packaged applications, including popular tools like Microsoft Teams, as well as various proprietary and third-party applications. Users were met with an error message stating, “Something happened on our end,” which left them unable to proceed with their updates.
Fix with KB5046714 update
According to Microsoft, the root of the problem can be traced back to the release of WinAppSDK version 1.6.2 on November 12. Following a wave of complaints from users, this version was promptly retracted, yet a solution was still required to restore functionality.
The introduction of the non-security update KB5046714 for Windows 10 22H2 has remedied the situation, as confirmed by Microsoft. It is important to note that this update stands apart from other Windows 10 updates, including both non-security and Patch Tuesday releases.
Interim updates Windows 11
In addition to the updates for Windows 10, users of Windows 11 have also benefited from two interim updates this month. These include KB5046740 for Windows 11 24H2 and KB5046732 for both Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2.
