Microsoft has unveiled its latest Windows 11 Insider Build, addressing a quirky bug that had users reminiscing about the past. The issue, which caused the Windows Vista startup sound to play during boot instead of the expected Windows 11 melody, was first highlighted by Xeno (@XenoPanther) on X/Twitter. Following this discovery, a Microsoft executive confirmed that the sound was indeed a bug, not a nostalgic Easter egg.
New Features and Improvements
The freshly released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5661 (KB5060838) brings more than just a fix; it introduces a suite of new features and enhancements. Among the most exciting updates is the Recall Homepage for Copilot+ PCs. This feature aims to enhance personalization by offering users a centralized view of their recent activities and frequently accessed content. Users can now easily access their most recent snapshots captured by Recall, along with a summary of the top three applications and websites they have engaged with over the past 24 hours.
Additionally, users will appreciate the new settings for system hardware indicators, which include volume and brightness controls. This enhancement allows for greater flexibility in managing the on-screen user interface, as users can now reposition these indicators according to their preferences. To make adjustments, users can navigate to Settings > System > Notifications and utilize the drop-down menu to select their desired indicator position.
