Microsoft has unveiled pre-release builds of Windows 11, now available to participants in the Beta, Experimental, and Experimental Beta channels of the Windows Insider Program (WIP). This initiative marks a significant step in the ongoing evolution of the Windows operating system.
New Features on the Horizon
As noted by Stephen Lines from Microsoft, the company is diligently expanding the rollout of the newly announced WIP changes across the specified channels. While the transition for Insiders in the Canary 29500 Series Channel and Beta Channel to the new WIP experience is still pending, anticipation builds as this shift is expected to occur in the coming weeks.
The latest builds introduce two noteworthy enhancements:
- Touchpad Improvements (in Experimental): Users with precision touchpads will benefit from an array of new gesture options. These enhancements include adjustable scroll and zoom speeds, automatic scrolling capabilities, accelerated scrolling, and the convenience of single-finger scrolling.
- Free Upgrade Path to Windows 11 Pro Education for K-12 (in Experimental Beta): In a move aimed at supporting educational institutions, Microsoft is enabling Windows Insiders within K-12 education to upgrade from Windows 11 Home to Pro Education at no additional cost. This initiative allows schools to purchase PCs equipped with Windows 11 Home and subsequently upgrade them to Pro Education, facilitating centralized management.
These updates reflect Microsoft’s commitment to enhancing user experience and supporting educational environments, paving the way for a more integrated and efficient use of technology in schools.
