Microsoft is marking a significant milestone this year, celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of special events and promotions. Following a memorable celebration in April, the tech giant is now delighting a select group of participants from a recent competition by distributing the exclusive 50th anniversary Surface Laptop 7. This limited-edition device is adorned with a striking gold Microsoft logo on its lid, while the interior showcases a nostalgic retro logo from 1975.
Exclusive Features of the 50th Anniversary Device
Each of these coveted laptops comes equipped with unique firmware that introduces a new boot logo, alongside a specially designed default Windows 11 wallpaper commemorating five decades of innovation. This wallpaper, distinctively available only on the 50th anniversary Surface Laptop 7, adds to the allure of this rare variant.
The default wallpaper, known as “Bloom,” was originally crafted by the design studio Six N. Five, who has collaborated with Microsoft on various Surface wallpapers in the past. The Bloom wallpaper has seen several iterations since its debut in 2021, including light and dark themes that reflect the user interface of Windows 11. Notably, the Windows 365 Link device also features a glassier version of this wallpaper, enhancing its visual appeal.
Over the years, Microsoft has introduced various color variants of the Bloom wallpaper, often aligning them with the hues of different Surface devices. The recent launch of Copilot+ PCs in 2024 brought another update to the Bloom wallpaper, incorporating colors inspired by the Copilot logo.
