Microsoft’s new AI agent can change Windows settings for you

In a bid to simplify user experience within the intricate settings of Windows, Microsoft has unveiled an innovative AI agent designed to assist users in navigating their PCs with ease. This new feature allows users to make requests such as “how to control my PC by voice” or “my mouse pointer is too small,” prompting the AI to provide step-by-step guidance and even execute tasks upon receiving user permission.

Only available to Windows 11 Insiders

However, potential users should temper their enthusiasm, as this AI agent is currently accessible only to Windows 11 Insiders. To utilize this feature, users must possess a Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PC with the primary display language set to English. Microsoft has indicated that support for compatible AMD and Intel PCs will be rolled out in the near future.

Initially announced in early May, the AI agent is now available for testing by eligible Windows insiders. Users are advised to ensure they have installed the latest Insider build to take full advantage of this feature. Additionally, those with Copilot+ PCs can expect enhancements related to Microsoft’s Recall feature, which allows users to reset all collected data regarding their activities in Windows. This can be done by navigating to Settings, selecting Privacy & Security, and then choosing Recall & Snapshots, where a reset button will erase all snapshots and Recall settings.

Previously, Recall snapshots could remain indefinitely, but now they will automatically expire after 90 days, although users can adjust this timeframe through settings. Microsoft is also providing tips to help users understand and utilize Recall effectively. Furthermore, Windows 11 insiders with a Copilot+ PC can leverage the Click to Do option in conjunction with Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling them to send text or images to the AI and inquire about the content, provided they hold a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

A few other features

The latest Insider build of Windows 11 introduces additional features, including Click to Do support for email addresses and enhanced sharing options for OneDrive files stored in the cloud. Alongside these new functionalities, the update addresses numerous bugs, making it a highly recommended installation for insiders eager to explore the latest advancements.
