Microsoft is embarking on an innovative journey to enhance the reliability of Windows 11 with a new memory diagnostic scan. This tool, announced on the Windows Insider Blog, is designed to activate whenever the operating system encounters a bug check that results in a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Currently available to users in the dev channel through Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6982 (KB5067109), this feature aims to address the underlying issues of memory corruption that can lead to system errors.
Enhanced Diagnostic Capabilities
In this latest iteration of Windows 11, the memory diagnostic scan will initiate following a reboot from a BSOD incident. Users will be greeted by a pop-up window that encourages them to schedule a memory scan for the next system reboot. This window offers two options: to either skip the memory scan or to proceed with scheduling it, allowing users to choose their preferred course of action.
Microsoft’s initiative is rooted in a desire to gain deeper insights into the causes of system crashes linked to memory corruption. As the company continues to refine this feature in future builds, the memory diagnostic scan will be selectively triggered, focusing specifically on crashes that are more likely to stem from memory-related issues. This targeted approach not only aims to streamline the troubleshooting process but also enhances the overall user experience by minimizing unnecessary interruptions.
As this feature rolls out, it represents a significant step forward in Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to improving system stability and reliability for its users.
