Notepad update begins rolling out to Windows Insiders

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the beginning of an exciting rollout for Notepad updates to users in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11.

Notepad (version 11.2510.6.0)

This latest update introduces two noteworthy features: enhanced formatting support with tables and the introduction of streaming results for AI text functionalities.

Tables

Notepad is embracing a more structured approach with the addition of table support. Users can now effortlessly insert tables into their documents, enhancing the organization of notes. To begin utilizing this feature, simply navigate to the new Table option found in the formatting toolbar, or opt for direct insertion using Markdown syntax. Once a table is in place, quick edits can be made to add or remove rows and columns via the right-click context menu or through the Table menu in the toolbar.

Streaming Results for AI Text Features

The update also enhances the experience for the Write, Rewrite, and Summarize features by introducing streaming result responses. Users will now receive results more swiftly, allowing for quicker interaction without the need to wait for the complete response. This means previews will appear sooner, facilitating a more dynamic workflow.

It’s important to note that streaming support for Rewrite is currently limited to results generated locally on Copilot+ PCs. To access Write, Rewrite, and Summarize in Notepad, users must sign in with their Microsoft account.
