One UI 7 will not support Edge Panel downloads from Galaxy Store

In recent developments surrounding One UI 7.0, Samsung has unveiled a significant change that may not sit well with all Galaxy device users. The company has officially announced that the Edge Panels Galaxy Store will no longer be supported on devices running One UI 7 or later. This decision came to light earlier this week through a termination notice shared by Samsung, as reported by @theonecid.

Currently, users can access Edge Panel settings and tap a “Galaxy Store” button to explore a variety of Edge Panels available for download, including both free and paid options. However, this functionality will be discontinued with the rollout of One UI 7.0. While users will retain access to any Edge Panels already installed on their devices prior to the update, the ability to acquire new ones will be lost.

You will lose paid Edge Panels if you uninstall them

In a somewhat surprising twist, Samsung has clarified that once users upgrade to One UI 7, they will not be able to re-download any Edge Panels they choose to uninstall. This applies to both free and paid versions. Therefore, if a user wishes to keep their paid Edge Panels intact after the update, it is crucial to refrain from uninstalling them. Should they decide to remove these panels, they will effectively lose access to them permanently.

Despite the removal of the Edge Panel storefront, the Edge Panel feature itself will still be available in One UI 7.0. However, there are speculations that this may be the initial phase in a broader strategy by Samsung to gradually phase out Edge Panels altogether.

For those still using devices with One UI 6.1.1 or earlier, the Edge Panels Galaxy Store will remain operational, and no immediate changes are expected for these users. However, the duration for which the store will continue to function for older versions remains unspecified by Samsung.
