Shared Folder Bug in Microsoft OneDrive
Several users have reported a bug in Microsoft OneDrive’s shared folder feature, where folders added using the “Add shortcut to My files” option are being replaced by internet shortcuts. The issue was first brought to light by a Neowin reader who noticed the problem.
One user, PradeepSG, shared their experience on the Microsoft forum, stating that shared folders were syncing as internet shortcuts on their Windows PC. Despite trying various solutions, the problem persisted.
Another user, kaydee8888, also faced the same issue but found a workaround by logging into OneDrive with a different user account. This suggests that the bug may not affect all accounts in the same way.
Interestingly, a user on the Feedback Hub claimed that Microsoft might be removing the option to add shared folder shortcuts to personal accounts based on information from customer support. However, this post has received minimal upvotes, indicating that not many users have had the same experience.
As the reports continue to surface, we will have to wait for an official statement from Microsoft regarding this issue. Thank you to TReKiE for bringing this to our attention.
