Apple has made a significant stride in enhancing productivity with the release of macOS Sequoia 15.1, marking the debut of its Apple Intelligence tools on the Mac platform. This update not only enriches the Mac experience but also extends its capabilities to Windows applications through Parallels Desktop.
According to a recent blog post by Parallels, users operating a Windows virtual machine on a Mac running macOS 15.1 or later can now access the innovative Writing Tools offered by Apple Intelligence. These tools are designed to assist users in refining their written content, enabling them to proofread and rewrite texts for improved clarity, professionalism, and conciseness.
The Writing Tools feature an array of functionalities, including:
- Summarizing text to capture essential points
- Transforming content into organized lists or tables
“Thanks to Parallels Tools, you can now use Apple Writing Tools to enhance your texts in Windows applications such as Microsoft Word,” the Parallels team elaborates. To get started, users need a Mac equipped with macOS 15.1 and an Apple M1 chip or later. Once these prerequisites are met, users can enable Apple Intelligence on their Mac.
To utilize the Writing Tools in Windows apps, simply launch your Windows virtual machine within Parallels Desktop. Navigate to the Actions menu and select the Update Parallels Tools option. After completing the update, the Writing Tools menu will be available for interaction with text in your Windows applications.
For ease of use, select a block of text and apply the keyboard shortcut Shift+Cmd+W, or access the tools via the macOS menu bar by going to Edit -> Writing Tools.
Earlier this year, Parallels Desktop received an update to fully support the ARM version of Windows 11 on M3 Macs, further enhancing its functionality for users, including those who enjoy gaming on Windows.
For those interested in exploring these features, Parallels Desktop is available for a free trial. Detailed information regarding licensing options can be found on the Parallels website.
