This hidden Windows 11 setting adds an ‘End task’ option to every task on your taskbar
When faced with a Windows 11 application that has frozen, users typically resort to the Task Manager, sifting through a list of processes to select the End Task option. However, there exists a more streamlined approach that can enhance efficiency. By adding an End Task menu item directly to the taskbar, users can swiftly manage unresponsive applications without the extra steps.
How to Add ‘End Task’ to Your Taskbar
To activate this feature, begin by navigating to the Settings menu. Click on System, then scroll down to locate the For Developers section. Once there, simply click on it.
Next, continue scrolling through the options until you find End Task. Toggle this setting on, and you will have successfully integrated the End Task feature into your taskbar.
Things to Know
It is important to note that this feature is categorized as a developer tool, which carries a certain level of responsibility. When utilizing the End Task option from the taskbar, users will not receive a prompt to save their work or close the application gracefully. The task is terminated immediately, akin to the experience in Task Manager.
This method performs a forceful termination of the application. Unlike a standard close request, which allows for housekeeping routines such as saving files, the End Task option bypasses these protocols entirely. While this can be a highly effective solution for dealing with malfunctioning applications, it also poses a risk of data loss.
As you consider enabling this feature, reflect on your own experiences with Windows 11. Are there other hidden gems within the operating system that you have discovered? We invite you to share your tips and tricks in the comments section.
