Ubisoft has fixed some of the issues with Avatar, Outlaws and the Windows 11 24H2 update, but the big three Assassin’s Creed are still borked

Windows 11 24H2 Update Causes Gaming Glitches

As the Windows 11 24H2 update rolls out, users are encountering familiar issues with their devices, including printers, webcams, and routers. However, this time, the gaming community is also feeling the impact, particularly with five major titles from Ubisoft. The problems have escalated to the point where Microsoft has taken the precautionary step of blocking the update for any PC that has these games installed.

Ubisoft has acted swiftly, releasing hotfixes for two of the affected titles. Yet, the popular Assassin’s Creed series—specifically Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla—remains without a fix. Microsoft has confirmed that the temporary patches for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws do address crash issues, although players may still face performance hiccups.

For gamers eager to dive into their favorite titles, particularly those who were planning extended play sessions over the holiday season, it’s wise to verify the version of Windows 11 currently in use. To do so, navigate to the Settings option in the Start Menu, select System, and scroll down to About. If you find yourself on Windows 11 24H2, you will need to either hold off on playing Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla until Ubisoft releases their patches or revert back to the previous version, 23H2.

Rolling back the update can be a cumbersome process, especially if more than ten days have passed since the installation of 24H2. In such cases, a complete reinstallation of Windows may be necessary. However, if the update was installed recently, users can utilize the ‘roll back’ feature by heading to Settings, then Windows Update, followed by Advanced Options, Recovery, and finally clicking on the ‘Go Back’ button.

Given the potential hassle of reverting updates, many may find it more prudent to simply wait for Ubisoft to address the outstanding issues with their games. After all, patience could save time and effort in the long run.
