Vivaldi browser has unveiled its latest update, version 6.9, bringing a host of enhancements designed to elevate user experience. Among the standout features is the ability to rename tabs, a function that allows users to personalize their browsing environment significantly.
Tab Rename in Vivaldi
This new feature enables users to assign custom names to their tabs, providing a more intuitive way to identify them. By simply right-clicking on a tab and selecting the rename option, users can create easily recognizable titles, which is particularly beneficial when dealing with multiple tabs that may have lengthy or similar titles. This functionality extends to Tab Stacks, allowing for better organization of related tabs by themes such as Work, Sports, News, and more. While creating Workspaces can help separate professional and personal browsing, the tab renaming feature offers a flexible solution for various scenarios. Notably, it works seamlessly with both the standard tab bar and the vertical sidebar views.
Drag-and-Drop Downloaded Files
Another practical addition is the drag-and-drop capability for managing downloaded files directly within Vivaldi. Users can now effortlessly relocate files from the Downloads panel to their desired directories—be it the desktop, a specific folder, or even into an email or document. This feature supports multiple file transfers, streamlining the process of organizing downloads.
Synced Tabs in the Windows Panel
The update also enhances the Windows Panel by highlighting tabs open on connected devices. To utilize this feature, users must have a Vivaldi account and enable Sync on all devices. When accessing the Windows Panel on a PC, users will see a dedicated section for “Synced Tabs,” showcasing tabs from other devices like smartphones or laptops. Each device’s tabs are organized in a nested structure, allowing for easy access. Users can right-click on a synced tab to copy its link or bookmark it, although closing tabs from the PC is not permitted.
In addition to these features, Vivaldi has made significant improvements to its Mail and Calendar functionalities, addressing over 40 bugs to enhance stability and performance. The refinements in tab management, while subtle, are a welcome addition to the browsing experience.
Vivaldi for Windows on ARM
Furthermore, Vivaldi is now compatible with Windows on ARM, including support for Copilot+ PCs powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors. This ARM version retains all the features of the desktop version while being optimized for efficiency on ARM-based devices, such as Surface tablets and other portable systems.
Users are encouraged to download Vivaldi 6.9 to explore these new features and enhancements on their desktops.
