Users of uBlock Origin on Microsoft Edge are advised to explore alternative options as Microsoft has announced a timeline for the phase-out of Manifest Version 2 (MV2) extensions. This transition will notably discontinue support for uBlock Origin on Edge, along with a select few other extensions.
Transition Timeline
Microsoft’s objective is to completely migrate users away from MV2 extensions by the conclusion of 2026. Starting this month, some users may begin receiving notifications regarding this significant change. Following these alerts, Microsoft plans to systematically disable MV2 extensions by default over the subsequent months.
In contrast, Mozilla Firefox continues to support the necessary technology for uBlock Origin to operate effectively. Additionally, Brave has pledged to maintain compatibility with MV2 extensions, ensuring that users on those platforms can continue to utilize their preferred ad-blocking tools without interruption.
