Windows 11 24H2 enters ‘a new stage of availability’ as Microsoft releases the update to more people

If you’ve been anticipating the arrival of Windows 11 24H2, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update, your wait may soon be over. Microsoft has officially announced that this significant update has “entered a new stage of availability,” expanding its reach to a broader audience.

Update Availability and Access

For those who prefer a more relaxed approach to software updates, there’s no need to rush into forcing the installation. Microsoft is gradually rolling out Windows 11 24H2, making it accessible to more users without the hassle of manual intervention. However, the specifics surrounding the rollout remain somewhat vague, as is often the case with Microsoft’s staggered updates.

While the company has not disclosed the exact criteria for determining which devices receive the update first, it has confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 is now an option for a wider range of eligible devices running versions 22H2 and 23H2. To check for the update on your device, navigate to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If your device is prepared for the upgrade, you will see the option to Download and install.

In addition, Microsoft notes that for Copilot+ PC devices, new features will soon be available to the Windows Insider community, with a phased rollout planned for select devices and markets. It’s important to keep in mind that availability may vary depending on different silicon platforms.

As with any major update, Windows 11 24H2 has encountered its share of challenges. The broader rollout may reveal new issues or indicate that previously reported problems have been resolved. Users are encouraged to stay informed as they navigate this latest iteration of Windows.
