- Adobe has launched the x86 version of Premiere Pro for Windows 11 on ARM devices utilizing Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X processors.
- The application will operate under emulation until an ARM-native version is developed, a project Adobe is actively pursuing.
- In contrast, rival applications like DaVinci Resolve are already available in a native format on ARM.
Adobe has reintroduced the capability to run Premiere Pro under emulation on Windows 11 ARM laptops powered by the Snapdragon X system-on-a-chip. Initially, Premiere Pro was permitted to function under emulation when Copilot+ PCs debuted, but this feature was temporarily disabled due to performance concerns and glitches. With its return to the Creative Cloud app, it appears that Adobe has addressed some of the initial challenges.
Currently, Premiere Pro operates under emulation, which may result in slower performance compared to traditional Intel or AMD machines. However, early testing indicates that the application is sufficient for basic video projects, accommodating a modest number of layers and audio at 1080p resolution.

While Adobe is working on an ARM-native version of Premiere Pro, the timeline for its release remains unspecified. Currently, Photoshop stands as the only Adobe application available natively for Windows on ARM. Other applications, such as After Effects, are anticipated to follow suit under emulation later this year.
During a significant unveiling event held last month, Adobe reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Windows on ARM with the Adobe Creative Suite. Users can already access Photoshop, Fresco, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Acrobat, Firefly, and a beta version of Illustrator on the new Snapdragon X laptops.
In the competitive landscape, other software developers are also striving to adapt their applications for the Windows on ARM platform. Notably, DaVinci Resolve has already released a beta version that is natively compatible with Windows on ARM, while Microsoft’s Clipchamp app is also available in a native format.
