Windows 11 multitasking is about to get even better

Windows 11 continues to enhance its multitasking capabilities, particularly through the innovative Snap Layouts feature. Users familiar with splitting their screens will appreciate the upcoming improvements introduced in the recent KB5046716 update, which has been confirmed by Windows Latest and noted by tech enthusiast Phantomofearth.

Enhanced Snap Layouts Experience

This update is set to refine the Snap Layouts experience by incorporating new text options that guide users more intuitively. The features being tested include:

  • Choose an app layout for your screen
  • Choose where to move this window
  • Choose where to snap this window
  • Choose where to arrange this window

Previously, Microsoft simplified the Snap Layouts interface, allowing users to see which applications will occupy specific areas of the screen, complete with icons and accompanying text. The keyboard shortcut for accessing Snap Layouts has also been streamlined to Windows key + Z, making it more accessible for users who may be new to the feature.

File Explorer and Taskbar Enhancements

In addition to the Snap Layouts improvements, the Windows update introduces enhancements to the File Explorer. Users will now find labels for frequently used actions such as paste, copy, and delete, further simplifying navigation. The Beta build also brings share support directly to the Start menu, enabling users to share files effortlessly from the Taskbar jump lists.

By right-clicking on any icon in the Taskbar, users can now access a share icon next to their files, streamlining the sharing process. Moreover, a new gamepad layout for the on-screen keyboard has been introduced, allowing users to utilize their Xbox controllers for typing and navigation with ease.

Accessibility Improvements

Accessibility features have also seen significant upgrades, particularly with the Narrator tool. Enhancements allow users to bypass links in text files, enabling them to jump directly to lists or tables of contents, thereby improving overall user experience.
