Windows 11’s new Insider build makes the Sandbox Client a lot better

In a recent update, the Windows Sandbox Client has received enhancements that promise to elevate the user experience for those testing new features. This update, part of the Canary branch, introduces several noteworthy functionalities that cater to both casual users and developers alike.

Enhancements to the Windows Sandbox Client

The latest iteration of the Windows Sandbox Client allows users to explore features such as clipboard redirection, audio and video input control, and folder sharing with the host PC. Additionally, a preliminary version of command line support has been introduced, providing a glimpse into future capabilities.

Among the new features, a “detach VHD” button has been added to streamline the process of removing virtual hard disks. Furthermore, for those who frequently work with command line tools, the FAT32 size limit has been significantly increased from 32GB to an impressive 2TB, enhancing flexibility in managing storage.

Interestingly, this update also incorporates a tool designed to run network data tests. These tests will operate in the background, utilizing a minimal amount of data—up to 10MB per day—on non-metered Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections. This initiative aims to gather diagnostic information that will inform future improvements in network performance.

To help us evaluate future improvements in network performance, your device may periodically run network tests in the background to collect diagnostic data. These tests will use a small amount of data (up to 10MB/day) and will only run on Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections that are not marked as metered. This will only occur on PCs in the Canary Channel running Build 27686 and higher.

For those eager to experiment with these new features, guidance is available through the Windows Insider program, which provides detailed instructions on how to get started. Embracing these updates could pave the way for a more efficient and versatile computing experience.
