Windows is testing a better profanity filter, **** yeah

Microsoft has unveiled a suite of new features in its latest Insider builds, which rolled out on Friday across various channels. Among the standout enhancements in the Windows 11 Beta Insider build (26120.3941) is a revamped profanity filter designed for voice typing.

Voice Typing Enhancements

With the simple WIN+H shortcut, users can activate voice typing and start dictating text. The voice recognition capabilities are comparable to those found on smartphones, yet they operate without the need for an AI-powered neural processing unit. This feature caters to a range of dictation styles, from formal writing to casual meeting recaps. The new update allows users to choose how to handle any colorful language that may slip through; they can either opt for a “bleep” effect, which replaces swear words with asterisks, or let the profanity flow freely. The choice is entirely in the hands of the user.

In addition to the voice typing improvements, Microsoft is also introducing features such as Recall and Click-to-Do, enhancing user experience and productivity. The Click-to-Do feature, which can now be launched using a Bluetooth pen, enables users to right-click and access a menu of frequently used functions related to a specific file or application. This addition is particularly beneficial for tablet users, allowing for seamless task selection while inking.

Privacy Features and More

Furthermore, Microsoft is implementing a new privacy feature that allows users on work or school accounts to restrict Windows Search from accessing personal photos. This added layer of privacy ensures that sensitive personal content remains secure and separate from professional environments.

While Insider Beta Builds are not guaranteed to transition to the final version available to all users, the likelihood of these features making their way to your PC remains high, promising an exciting evolution in the Windows experience.
