Microsoft has unveiled a unique addition to its product lineup: limited edition Crocs inspired by the nostalgia of Windows XP. Initially teased as a sweepstakes item on Instagram, these whimsical footwear options are now available for purchase at Microsoft’s online store for .95.
The design of the Crocs is a playful homage to the iconic Windows XP aesthetic, featuring the familiar blue sky and fluffy clouds from the beloved wallpaper, complemented by a vibrant green sole that evokes the lush grass of the original backdrop. Each pair comes with a six-pack of Microsoft Jibbitz charms, allowing wearers to customize their shoes with nostalgic symbols, including the original MSN logo, the Internet Explorer icon, Clippy, and a mouse pointer.
As part of the promotion, Microsoft is also offering a Windows XP-themed drawstring backpack with each purchase, enhancing the overall nostalgic experience. This initiative was first introduced to Microsoft employees in August, prior to the public release, and has been described as a “fun, limited-run celebration” marking the company’s 50th anniversary. Notably, Microsoft clarified that this venture is not an official partnership with Crocs but rather a creative endeavor to engage fans of the brand.
