In a notable advancement for users of both Android and Windows, Microsoft has enhanced the integration between Galaxy smartphones and Windows operating systems. Previously, accessing files from Galaxy devices required the use of the Windows Phone Link app, but a recent update has streamlined this process significantly.

As reported by Windows Latest, users can now view their Galaxy smartphone’s files directly within the File Manager app on Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers. This integration allows for a more seamless experience, reminiscent of the cohesive ecosystem that Apple offers its users.

For instance, when using a Galaxy S23 Ultra connected to a Windows 11 PC, the device appears in the left-side pane of the File Manager. This feature is a result of a server-side update, meaning no additional configuration was necessary on the user’s part, aside from ensuring that the latest version of the Cross Device Experience Host app is installed on the Windows machine.

To utilize this feature, both the Galaxy phone and the Windows computer must be connected via Bluetooth and share the same local network. Once these conditions are met, users can simply click on their device’s name to access the folders stored on the phone.

This new functionality allows for a variety of file management tasks, including cutting, copying, pasting, deleting, renaming, and moving files, all performed in a manner similar to traditional file management on a computer. This enhancement not only simplifies the process but also eliminates the need for cumbersome USB connections, making file management more efficient and user-friendly.
