Bhavish Aggarwal’s Krutrim launches android application, opens up cloud infra for businesses

India’s AI Landscape Welcomes Krutrim’s Android App and Cloud Services

In a significant stride for India’s burgeoning AI sector, Krutrim, pioneered by Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal and celebrated as the nation’s first AI unicorn, has unveiled its exclusive Android application. The launch is complemented by the opening of Krutrim Cloud, a robust platform now accessible to a broad spectrum of users including enterprises, researchers, and developers. This move positions Ola Krutrim as a formidable contender in the cloud services arena, where it will vie with industry giants such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Amazon Web Services.

The Krutrim Cloud platform is a gateway to state-of-the-art AI computers, hosting both proprietary Krutrim models and a suite of open-source alternatives. It also introduces location services tools, paving the way for innovative, map-based local solutions.

The newly launched mobile app, touted as a versatile chat assistant, is powered by the company’s proprietary large language model (LLM). This digital companion is adept at aiding users with a variety of tasks, from generating content for blog posts, emails, and social media updates to fielding everyday inquiries, keeping abreast of the latest news, and providing insights on a plethora of topics.

Exemplifying linguistic diversity, the chatbot currently supports 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, Gujarati, and Hinglish—a blend of Hindi and English—with plans to expand to all 22 official languages. Future updates promise to integrate voice commands and a seamless fusion of text, voice, and visual data, further enhancing its utility as a comprehensive content creation tool.

Moreover, the app’s collaborative nature allows it to interact with various other applications, enabling users to perform tasks such as booking cabs or setting reminders without the need to switch between different apps. As users engage with the app, it learns and adapts, offering personalized experiences through tailored suggestions and reminders.

Empowering Developers with Model-as-a-Service

Krutrim is rolling out its Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) feature, granting developers access to its LLMs and an array of open-source models hosted on the cloud. With the inclusion of Krutrim’s base LLMs, instruction-tuned versions, and Python SDKs, developers are equipped to create products that resonate with the Indian market, leveraging the platform’s nuanced understanding of local languages and cultural contexts.

Looking ahead, the company is set to introduce models that cater to voice and image understanding and generation, as well as pre-tuned LLM agents. Krutrim Cloud is also on the cusp of offering GPU as a service within its advanced AI computing infrastructure, empowering businesses and developers to train, fine-tune, and deploy their models with greater efficiency.

Foundational Services for Local Markets

Krutrim Cloud’s foundational services are tailored to meet the needs of businesses targeting local demographics. Among these services is the Places API, which assists users in locating points of interest such as restaurants or hotels on maps, complete with comprehensive details.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the visionary behind Ola Krutim, expressed his conviction that India’s technological evolution necessitates indigenous platforms. “With Krutrim, our enterprises and developers will no longer have to rely on complex and expensive western cloud platforms, which are not optimized for Indian use cases. Our Krutrim assistant app is set to revolutionize the adoption of GenAI, easing the complexity and fragmentation often associated with digital tools and services,” Aggarwal stated.

Furthering its commitment to AI, the company is investing in the development of indigenous data centers and, in the long term, aims to delve into server-computing, edge-computing, and supercomputers.

In a strategic move, Ola plans to integrate Krutrim across its group companies within the year, leveraging the technology to enhance sales, service, support, and other critical operations.
