Total War: EMPIRE on Android has a touchscreen UI perfected from Feral’s previous releases
There are several reasons that people don’t like mobile games, and one of those is the touchscreen user interface and/or touchscreen controls. While this can vary from game to game, there are a fair number of them that can be overwhelmingly complex, or just downright terrible.
You won’t find that with Total War: EMPIRE. With a large number of mobile titles under its belt, Feral Interactive has spent years perfecting a decent touchscreen user interface that fits well within the confines of its massive battles. Feral says “we designed EMPIRE’s new touchscreen controls to offer intuitive simplicity for common commands, as well as a suite of gestures for finger-tip control.”
You can easily zoom in and out or pan the camera with pinches and twists. You can also select units with either the card bar that sits at the bottom of the screen or by tapping directly on them from the battlefield. There’s a fully customizable deselection feature in the options menu as well.
Additionally, you can tap on targets or destinations to issue commands to your soldiers. Quick and easy.
This is a full-price game with a one-time payment
Feral goes into some pretty in-depth explanations of the game and its mobile features, and if you want to check that out you can read the full blog post. If you’re ready to dive into the game on your device, you can grab it from the Play Store now.
Be forewarned that it isn’t a cheap or free game. This is a paid title that will cost a significant amount more than most mobile game players are probably used to. It’s .99. That being said, this is a one-time payment and you get the full game. There are no ads or microtransactions for cosmetics or anything like that. You buy it, you play it, the end.
It is also a pretty large game. Total War: EMPIRE requires 12GB of storage but Feral recommends that players have at least 24GB of storage. So make sure you have room if you’re going to buy this game.
