Yamaguchi City-based developer Jacob Honda has unveiled their latest project, CLASS 3, THIRD GRADE, a first-person escape adventure game that aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia. Set to launch on PC via Steam in March, the game will be available for .99 or 680 yen, although a specific release date has yet to be announced. Players can look forward to enjoying the game in both English and Japanese.
Development team leader Makoto Nishizaki shared insights about the game, describing it as a creation for the “ice age generation.” He expressed a desire to connect with those who feel a familiar weight in their stomachs at the mention of an “end-of-day meeting.” The game invites players to immerse themselves in the bittersweet memories of childhood, capturing both the warmth and harshness of experiences from the past, including the poignant memory of a missing chicken from the school’s animal shed after summer vacation.
About the Game
In CLASS 3, THIRD GRADE, players step into the shoes of the protagonist, “I,” who begins to experience frequent dreams of their childhood amidst a monotonous adult life. The protagonist’s elementary school days are so distant that even class reunion notices seem to have forgotten them. One ordinary morning, during a routine commute, “I” unexpectedly finds themselves back in their childhood bedroom—a place where the lines between dream and reality blur. As memories that had faded into idyllic recollections begin to resurface, “I” must confront the past. The journey raises questions: Can “I” escape this labyrinth of memories, and how will these encounters reshape “I”’s life?
Gameplay
CLASS 3, THIRD GRADE is designed as a 3D first-person escape game. Players will navigate the nostalgic childhood room of the protagonist, gathering essential items for their escape while solving various puzzles that stand between them and the real world.
