The new game from former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies is coming in June, and boy it sure looks like a Rockstar game

Build a Rocket Boy, the innovative studio established by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies, has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated game, MindsEye. Set to launch on June 10, 2025, this title will make its debut on PC simultaneously with consoles, a refreshing approach that contrasts with the expected staggered release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

The World of Redrock City

The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic trailer that unveils the intriguing world of MindsEye, set in a “super-heated near-future desert metropolis” known as Redrock City. While the city appears inviting at first glance, it harbors underlying tensions. Central to the narrative is Marco Silva, an eccentric tech genius whose ambitions to “change the course of human evolution” clash with the goals of Redrock City’s mayor, Shiva Vega. Her desire to create the “safest city in the world” raises questions about control and freedom, hinting at a deeper conflict.

The trailer, rich in dramatic flair, opts for storytelling over gameplay, reminiscent of the cinematic style associated with the Grand Theft Auto series. It captures the essence of urban life, showcasing a newcomer’s awe against a backdrop of chaos and power struggles. The visuals are complemented by a pulsating soundtrack, enhancing the sense of urgency and excitement that permeates the city.

While some may draw parallels to Benzies’ legacy with Rockstar, he emphasizes that MindsEye aims to deliver a “tightly crafted game” featuring a thought-provoking narrative where technology and ambition collide, leading to inevitable consequences. This ambition sets it apart from the more sprawling, open-ended nature of traditional GTA titles.

Players can now pre-purchase MindsEye on Steam for /£55/€60. Early adopters will receive a complimentary “deluxe edition upgrade,” which includes exclusive cosmetics and a premium pass. This pass promises additional missions and challenges to be released throughout 2025 and early 2026, ensuring that players have plenty to explore in the evolving landscape of Redrock City.
