Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold over 3.3m copies

The gaming landscape has recently witnessed a remarkable achievement with the release of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which has successfully sold over 3.3 million copies since its launch on April 24th. This impressive milestone was shared by the game’s official Twitter account, celebrating the accomplishment just 33 days post-release. Developer Sandfall expressed their gratitude, stating, “Seriously. As of today, we couldn’t make that up. Another entry on the long list of surreal moments that your support has made real. Thank you all.”

Looking Ahead

In light of this success, Sandfall is already setting its sights on future endeavors. While specific details about the next project remain under wraps, COO and producer François Meurisse confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that another video game is indeed on the horizon. “There will be another video game, for sure,” he stated enthusiastically. “I can’t wait to dig more into the ideas we already have for the next game.”

Meurisse further emphasized the growth of the team, noting that many members have developed new skills throughout the production of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. “The team has grown up; many of them were junior when we started. We learned to work together,” he reflected. “So I can’t wait to get to the next project, because we’ll start from a more efficient position than when we started the company five years ago.”

With heightened expectations accompanying their next venture, the team is prepared for the challenges ahead. “But I can say that we have – and Guillaume in particular has – great ideas for the next game,” Meurisse added, hinting at the creative potential that lies ahead for Sandfall and its dedicated team.
