Warner Bros. Games has embarked on a strategic restructuring, aligning its operations around its most iconic intellectual properties. As reported by Variety, the company has segmented its divisions to focus specifically on the renowned franchises of DC, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Mortal Kombat.
Leadership Changes and New Directions
In this reorganization, Yves Lachance, the head of Warner Bros. Games Montréal, has been elevated to Senior Vice President of Development. In his new role, Lachance will spearhead the development efforts for both the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones series, ensuring that these beloved universes continue to captivate audiences.
Meanwhile, Shaun Himmerick, who leads the NetherRealm studio, will take charge of the Mortal Kombat and DC franchises. His extensive experience in the gaming industry positions him well to drive innovation and engagement within these popular realms. Additionally, Steven Flenory, previously at the helm of Warner Bros. New York, has transitioned to the role of Senior Vice President of Central Tech and Services, where he will oversee the technological backbone supporting these franchises.
J.B. Perrette, the CEO of Global Games and Streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, expressed enthusiasm about the restructuring, stating, “Our company is home to some of the biggest franchises in the world, and we are optimizing our team structure to develop long-term franchise roadmaps to delight players and fans.” He emphasized the strength of the existing talent pool, highlighting the respected leadership of Lachance, Himmerick, and Flenory, and expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with them to create exceptional gaming experiences.
