In response to player feedback regarding the recent changes in Renown currency, Ubisoft is taking steps to enhance the rewards system in Rainbow Six Siege X. Following the launch of Siege X earlier this month, many longtime players expressed concerns over the diminished Renown payouts, particularly after losses in matches. This adjustment has raised eyebrows, especially as it coincided with the game’s transition to a free-to-play model.
Changes in Currency Dynamics
The adjustments to Renown, a crucial non-premium currency that allows players to unlock new operators and various skins without spending real money, have sparked discussions among the community. The introduction of a new cosmetic bundle, purchasable exclusively with premium R6 Credits, has further fueled worries that the game may be leaning towards a more monetized approach in its free-to-play era.
Ubisoft is also aware of the diminishing effectiveness of XP boosters, which have become less impactful under the new slower progression system. Karpazis, a representative from Ubisoft, acknowledged the situation, stating, “We want to make sure boosters are just as useful today as they were a few months ago. For us, we will need a bit more time to see how that kind of balances out.” He emphasized the importance of patience as the team evaluates player usage and feedback over the coming weeks.
As players navigate these economic shifts, it’s essential to note that Siege X is not a sequel but rather an evolution of the existing game. Among the notable enhancements is the introduction of Dual Front, a dynamic new 6v6 mode that allows for respawns and features both attackers and defenders on the same team, adding a fresh layer of strategy to the gameplay experience.
