The investigation, conducted by Koi Security—a firm specializing in security self-provisioned software—identified a variety of extensions that range from VPNs and weather forecasting tools to themes and keyboard enhancers. In response to these discoveries, Koi Security promptly reported the extensions to Google. While some have been removed from the store, a number of them still remain accessible to unsuspecting users.
