Hades 2 has officially set its sights on a 1.0 launch date, generating excitement across the gaming community. However, for Sworn developer Windwalk Games, this announcement has introduced a unique challenge. Their King Arthur-themed roguelike, which draws significant inspiration from Hades, now finds itself in direct competition with Supergiant’s highly anticipated sequel. Both titles are slated for release on the same day, Thursday, September 25. In response to this scheduling clash, Windwalk has opted to move their launch date forward, ensuring that players have the opportunity to experience their game without the overshadowing presence of Hades 2.
Windwalk’s Strategic Shift
As a fan eagerly awaiting the fresh experience of Hades 2 at its 1.0 launch, I have found myself turning to Sworn to fill the void. However, it’s likely that my attention will shift back to Melinoë’s journey once it begins, as my gaming time is limited. The highest praise I can offer is that I fully intend to revisit Sworn in the future.
Windwalk Games has not only embraced the roguelike genre but has also expanded its depth significantly. Players can engage with Sworn in cooperative mode, choosing from four distinct characters, each equipped with four weapon types and unique spells. This variety promises hours of exploration and experimentation, especially when considering the myriad blessings bestowed by the Fae Lords.
In a statement addressing the community, Windwalk Games acknowledged the excitement surrounding Hades 2’s release: “We know you’re all excited about the recent news that Supergiant Games is releasing Hades 2 on September 25. Hades is a genre-defining game that served as a huge inspiration for us when crafting our co-op action roguelike Sworn. As fans ourselves, we recognize that launching on the same day could present challenges. To that end, we have decided to advance our 1.0 release date.”
Sworn 1.0 will now launch on Tuesday, September 23, and is currently available at a 33% discount until Monday, September 29, bringing the price down to just .74 / £16.74. For those intrigued, now is an excellent time to explore this title. With an impressive 87% positive review average on Steam, it’s clear that many players share a favorable view of the game.
