Gemini chat controls may be about to change in the Google app (APK teardown)

Google is once again enhancing the Gemini experience within its app, introducing a series of thoughtful adjustments aimed at simplifying user interactions. The latest update, version 16.37.46.sa.arm64, showcases a commitment to refining the chat interface, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.

Streamlined Navigation and Enhanced Features

Among the notable changes is the rebranding of the account menu entry from “Apps” to “Connected Apps.” This subtle shift not only clarifies the function of this section but also better aligns with how Gemini integrates with various services. Users can expect a more cohesive experience as they navigate through their connected applications.

The chat screen has also undergone a transformation. A new “New chat” shortcut has replaced the previous account switcher at the top of the screen, allowing users to initiate conversations more swiftly without needing to delve into the sidebar. This design choice reflects a growing emphasis on efficiency and ease of use.

Additionally, a new down arrow next to the chat title introduces a dropdown menu that provides quick access to essential actions such as Share, Pin, Rename, and Delete. Previously, these options were buried within the sidebar, requiring multiple steps to access. This enhancement not only streamlines the process but also empowers users to manage their chats more effectively.

Furthermore, the sidebar now includes a Share option alongside Rename, Pin, and Delete, offering an alternative method for sharing conversations without the need to open them first. This addition is a testament to Google’s focus on enhancing user experience by minimizing unnecessary steps.

While these features are currently in testing and may not be guaranteed for a wide release, they indicate a clear direction towards making Gemini more navigable and manageable for users. As Google continues to refine its offerings, the potential for a more seamless chat experience is on the horizon.
