Closed Alpha Details
In a recent post on Steam, Northplay provided insights into the upcoming closed alpha, describing it as a “small slice” of the Dinolords experience. However, it appears to be a generous offering, featuring a three-part tutorial that will guide players through the game’s mechanics. Following this introduction, participants will have the opportunity to explore four unique maps and engage in two distinct game modes, along with a campaign setup that allows for cross-level progression.
Robin Valentine, a fortunate attendee at this year’s Gamescom, had the chance to experience Dinolords firsthand. His impressions suggest that the game is poised to exceed expectations, describing it as “mechanically a much more creative and interesting game than you’re likely expecting.” A key feature of Dinolords is the player’s perspective, which is anchored to their titular dinolord, ensuring that they remain at the heart of the action.
Valentine shared his excitement about the gameplay, stating, “Jumping onto a velociraptor steed lets me speed between different settlements and battlefronts. Then I’m hunting for nests in the forest so I can steal the giant eggs and use them to recruit new dino species. As I set up my base, I’m enchanted to see that the lumber mill sends out a specially trained triceratops to uproot the trees and carry them back for sawing into logs.” The vivid imagery and engaging mechanics certainly paint a picture of a thrilling adventure.
For those eager to join the closed alpha, access requests can be submitted via the Dinolords Steam page. Northplay has indicated that not all applicants will be granted access, and players will be invited in batches starting at the end of October when the playtest officially begins.
