Arc Raiders playtest slams past 185,000 concurrent players on Steam alone

The Arc Raiders server slam playtest commenced today, providing gamers with a final opportunity to experience the title ahead of its official launch on October 30. The response has been remarkable, with over 185,000 players engaging simultaneously on Steam, according to data from SteamDB. This impressive figure places Arc Raiders in the fourth position on Steam’s most played list, surpassing popular titles such as PUBG, Rust, and Bongo Cat. It’s worth noting that the playtest is also accessible on the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, suggesting that the total player count is likely even higher.

Technical Adjustments and Player Experience

Shortly after the playtest began, a hotfix was rolled out to address initial crashes and errors, necessitating a complete redownload of the game. However, developers assured players that such measures would not become a regular occurrence. Since the patch, reports indicate a smooth experience for players. Notably, two of our dedicated testers, Morgan Park and Lincoln Carpenter, have been actively exploring the game and have not encountered any significant issues, demonstrating the game’s potential.

As North America transitions into Friday evening, it is anticipated that the number of concurrent players on Steam will continue to rise. The real excitement is expected on Saturday, the first full day of the test, when many more players will likely take advantage of their free time to dive into the game. If Embark Studios can maintain stability during this peak period, Arc Raiders may very well defy the odds and launch without the typical server overload that often plagues online games on release day.
