Microsoft is embarking on an intriguing experiment with Windows 11, aiming to enhance the user experience by introducing a feature that preloads File Explorer in the background. This initiative, revealed in the latest Windows 11 preview build, is designed to significantly improve the app’s launch performance.
The company stated, “exploring preloading File Explorer in the background to help improve File Explorer launch performance. This shouldn’t be visible to you, outside of File Explorer hopefully launching faster when you need to use it.” This subtle yet impactful change addresses a common frustration among users: the delay often experienced when opening File Explorer from a cold start. Typically, users have to wait a second or more for the interface to load, which can disrupt workflow. With this new approach, the aim is to display the interface almost instantaneously, allowing users to dive into their files and folders without unnecessary interruptions.
In a recent update on social media platform X, Windows president Pavan Davuluri acknowledged the feedback from developers and power users regarding the current performance of Windows 11. He reassured the community that his team is actively working on enhancements to the platform, emphasizing that improvements are being made beyond the AI advancements that have recently captured the spotlight.
