Google Wallet’s new feature saves Android users from fumbling for passes

What you need to know

In a move set to enhance user convenience, Google Wallet is introducing a feature that intuitively surfaces the precise pass you need as you approach your destination. This innovation aims to alleviate the stress of searching through a cluttered list of passes at critical moments, such as boarding gates or concert entrances.

According to reports from 9to5Google, this new functionality, dubbed “Set up nearby notifications,” will activate notifications that present the relevant ticket, card, or boarding pass right when you need it most. Imagine receiving a one-tap alert as you near an airport gate, concert venue, transit terminal, or store, allowing you to access your pass instantly without the usual hassle.

Additionally, users are already experiencing automated flight check-in alerts, prompting them to “Check in to your flight” well ahead of their airport arrival. This feature appears to pull information directly from confirmation emails in Gmail, streamlining the travel experience even further.

This rollout is currently underway, perfectly timed for the upcoming holiday travel season, ensuring that users can navigate their journeys with ease and efficiency.
