Reports have emerged indicating that Facebook Messenger is experiencing significant disruptions, with users facing issues since approximately 11:16 AM EDT on Wednesday. The outage has been documented on Downdetector, a platform that tracks service interruptions.

Facebook Messenger, a widely used instant messaging service, allows users to communicate through text messages, photos, videos, and voice calls across various devices. This platform is seamlessly integrated with Facebook’s social network, providing real-time chat capabilities that many rely on for personal and professional communication.

Meta’s New AI Model Launch

On the same day, Meta unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, Muse Spark, which the company claims is both smarter and faster than its predecessor. This announcement coincides with a significant restructuring of Meta’s Superintelligence Labs unit. According to a blog post from the tech giant, “Over the last nine months, Meta Superintelligence Labs rebuilt our AI stack from the ground up.”

Muse Spark is set to replace Llama 4, which was launched a year ago, and will enhance various features across Meta’s platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Currently, Muse Spark is only accessible in the United States.

The new AI model is designed to be compact and efficient, with the capability to tackle complex inquiries in fields such as science, mathematics, and health. This advancement reflects Meta’s ongoing commitment to innovation in the realm of artificial intelligence.
