Love Albany announces ‘Minecraft,’ ‘Hoppers’ for free summer movie series

Love Albany has unveiled the lineup for its beloved annual event, “Movies Under the Stars,” a free summer series designed to bring the community together through film. This initiative, a ministry of Christ’s Church Albany, collaborates with various city partners to present a delightful selection of movies across several parks in Albany.

The city’s Office of Cultural Affairs, along with the Albany Community Land Trust Gun Violence Prevention, Lincoln Park Alliance, the RED Bookshelf, and the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association, will host each screening, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere for attendees.

Film Schedule

This year’s cinematic offerings include:

  • “Zootopia 2,” 7:30 p.m. on May 15 at Washington Park
  • “GOAT,” 7:30 p.m. on June 19 at Swinburne Park
  • “A Minecraft Movie,” 7:30 p.m. on July 17 at Lincoln Park
  • “Hoppers,” 6:30 p.m. on August 21 at Ridgefield Park

The listed times mark the beginning of pre-show festivities, which include lawn games, nonprofit information booths, complimentary popcorn, and a bounce house for the little ones. The films will commence at sunset, creating a magical outdoor viewing experience.

In addition to the collaborative efforts of local organizations, the city’s Department of Recreation, Albany Public Library, and Honest Weight Co-op are also contributing sponsorship support to enhance the “Movies Under the Stars” series.
