MyGOV Malaysia app to stream World Cup 2026 matches

PETALING JAYA: In an exciting development for sports enthusiasts, the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 will be accessible for streaming via the MyGOV Malaysia app. This announcement was made by the Digital Ministry on June 5, revealing that users registered with MyDigital ID can enjoy live broadcasts through the app’s live-streaming feature, which will showcase content from TV1, TV2, and Okey TV.

Enhancing Digital Access

The MyGOV Malaysia app embodies the Madani Government’s commitment to refining digital service access for Malaysians. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo highlighted that as user engagement continues to rise, the platform is undergoing progressive enhancements aimed at improving scalability, performance, and overall user experience.

Launched in 2025, the MyGOV Malaysia app serves as a unified platform that consolidates a variety of services from government agencies. Currently, it offers 51 services from 19 different agencies, including Travel Restriction Status, Unclaimed Moneys, and PriceCatcher, boasting a user base exceeding 2.2 million.

A Vision for the Future

According to Digital Ministry secretary-general Datuk Fabian Bigar, the app is strategically designed to dismantle bureaucratic silos through improved data interoperability and a unified public infrastructure. He emphasized that a connected government is essential for Malaysia’s aspirations in an AI-driven future.

“By unifying fragmented agency platforms under the MyGOV ecosystem, we are laying the groundwork for clean, interoperable data that is crucial for deploying scalable artificial intelligence,” Bigar stated. He elaborated on the ultimate goal of transitioning from reactive public services to predictive, highly personalized citizen experiences, thereby solidifying Malaysia’s path toward becoming a leading AI Nation by 2030.

The FIFA World Cup 2026, set to take place from June 11 to July 19, will be hosted across Mexico, Canada, and the United States. The Communications Ministry has confirmed that RTM and Unifi TV will serve as the official broadcasters for the World Cup in Malaysia.
