As of 9:47 a.m. ET on Friday, June 12, Downdetector.com recorded an astonishing 123,864 reports of issues, with complaints beginning to surface shortly after 9 a.m. One user expressed their frustration on X, asking, “Have I been hacked on Facebook or what? Is Facebook working for anyone?” This sentiment was echoed by many, as users flocked to social media to inquire about the status of both Facebook and its sister platform, Instagram, which is also under the Meta umbrella. Another user queried, “Is everyone having problems with Facebook and Instagram or Meta in general?”

In addition to Facebook, many users have reported difficulties with Messenger, the instant messaging service owned by Meta. One user took to X to share their experience: “Anybody else just been logged out of Facebook messenger and can’t log back in? Unknown error.”
