Microsoft’s Latest Updates Enhance Windows 11 Setup Experience
At the close of last month, Microsoft unveiled its latest preview update, designated as C-release under KB5095093. This release is accompanied by dynamic updates KB5102558 and KB5095615, which focus on setup and recovery enhancements. Notably, the tech giant has also introduced a new Out of Box Experience (OOBE) update tailored for the recent iterations of Windows 11, specifically versions 25H2 and 24H2.
The OOBE represents the initial setup phase that users encounter immediately following the installation of Windows. In line with its commitment to transparency, Microsoft has provided a comprehensive changelog detailing the improvements made:
KB5095189: Cumulative update for the Out of Box Experience for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2, dated June 23, 2026. This update is designed to enhance the OOBE process specifically and is applicable only when OOBE updates are installed.
For users with an active internet connection, these OOBE updates will be installed automatically during the setup process. In a supplementary document, Microsoft elaborated on the benefits of these updates, emphasizing that the time required for downloading and installation may vary based on the user’s hardware and internet speed.
During the OOBE, Windows takes the initiative to automatically download and install critical driver updates and zero-day patches (ZDPs) once the device connects to a network. These updates are essential for ensuring optimal device performance and are mandatory, with users receiving notifications as the system checks for and applies them.
Moreover, if a newer version of Windows is available than the one initially installed, the device may also obtain the latest updates during the concluding phases of OOBE, contingent on the OS build. In such scenarios, the update package is downloaded and installed prior to the completion of the setup, guaranteeing that the device is equipped with the most up-to-date security measures and features right from the start.
