Task Bar Hero class tier list and the best team compositions for idling your way through the endgame

After dedicating over 300 hours to the engaging world of Task Bar Hero, I can confidently assert that this desktop auto-battler has earned a cherished spot among my favorite idle games. The intricate micromanagement of pixelated heroes at the bottom of my screen has not only entertained me but also exposed the more obsessive tendencies of my gaming psyche. With that in mind, I’ve compiled a Task Bar Hero tier list that reflects the current meta.

Having conquered all four difficulty levels and maxed out my heroes to level 101, here’s my definitive tier list:

Class tier list

<tbody class="tablebody”>
<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>S-Tier

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Ranger

<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>A-Tier

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Priest

<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>B-Tier

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Hunter, Sorcerer

<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>C-Tier

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Slayer

<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>D-Tier

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Knight

Choosing your Task Bar Hero(es)

  • Ranger is the undisputed best class currently available.
  • Priest offers remarkable versatility, adeptly serving as both tank and healer.
  • Consider swapping Ranger for Hunter, but only if you have favorable gear drops.
  • Sorcerer complements double DPS teams with potent AoE capabilities.
  • If you prefer a traditional tank, invest in Slayer instead of Knight.
  • Steer clear of Knight, as he is significantly outclassed in higher difficulties and can become a liability.

A few notes on assembling your team

  • Utilize the free Priest DLC to create a solid free-to-play team.
  • In the current meta, DPS reigns supreme; heavy armor investments are less critical.
  • Focus on attack speed for Ranger and Hunter, and cast speed for Sorcerer.
  • Enhance armor with elemental resistance to reach the 75% cap, especially for tanks.
  • Employ a three-man team for the early to mid-game, transitioning to a solo Ranger strategy for Torment difficulty.

The DPS Heavy, for a Priestly carry to the end

<table tabindex="0" class="tablewrapper tablewrapper–inbodyContent tablewrapper–sticky tablewrapper–divider”>
<tbody class="tablebody”>
<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Class

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Priest

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Ranger

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Sorcerer

<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Role

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Tank/Healer

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>DPS

The Priest class excels in tanking, often surpassing both Slayer and Knight with minimal investment. While some mid-tier difficulties may pose challenges, a few fortunate gear upgrades will enable her to endure long enough for Ranger and Sorcerer to dispatch enemy waves. Prioritizing her Blessing of Might skill will provide a significant damage boost for the entire team.

As your Sorcerer decimates enemy health pools, a swift Ranger can efficiently eliminate frontline threats with just a couple of shots.

The Holy Trinity, for safely cruising through early to mid-game

<table tabindex="0" class="tablewrapper tablewrapper–inbodyContent tablewrapper–sticky tablewrapper–divider”>
<tbody class="tablebody”>
<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Class

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Slayer

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Priest

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Ranger

<tr class="tablebodyrow”>
<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Role

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Tank

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>Healer/Off-Tank

<td class="tablebody_data” colspan=”1″>DPS

Opt for Slayer over Knight for his party buff, Commander’s Cry, which enhances overall damage output. Equip him with superior armor to ensure his survival while allowing Priest to focus on healing and casting Blessing of Might.

In a single DPS team, Ranger shines as the primary damage dealer. Allocate resources for her upgrades and prioritize increasing her attack speed. While Sorcerer may not sustain a three-man team as the sole DPS, she can be a temporary substitute for Ranger if you’ve obtained favorable weapon drops.

Tips for spending gold, upgrading runes, and leveling the Cube

  • Prioritize acquiring the two additional Runes of Command at the bottom of the Rune grid to level three heroes simultaneously.
  • Secure the Rune of Awakening early to unlock access to a hero’s second skill.
  • Focus on hero attack damage runes located in the lower right of the grid, along with XP upgrades.
  • Maintain an organized inventory by using junk gear to level the Cube, avoiding excessive early investments in inventory slots or stash pages.
  • The Rune of Brevity, found in the top right corner of the grid, significantly enhances grinding efficiency with its “Stage Wave Count -1” effect, accelerating team growth around levels 50-60.
