Gemini app’s latest UI change makes it easier to set up thinking levels, control notifications

Google is enhancing the user experience of its Gemini app with a series of thoughtful updates aimed at streamlining functionality and improving accessibility. The recent rollout includes a refined user interface and new notification controls, designed to cater to the evolving needs of its users.

Streamlined Features and Enhanced Controls

One notable change is the model picker dropdown menu, which now exclusively features the “Extended Thinking” option under the “Thinking Level” category. This adjustment simplifies user choices, as the previous inclusion of a “Standard” thinking level was somewhat redundant, given that it served as the default setting.

In addition to this simplification, the app is introducing new notification settings that allow users to tailor their experience further. Within the settings menu, users can now manage notifications across several categories:

  • Daily Brief
  • Scheduled actions
  • Responses
  • Product updates and tips

These notification toggles are enabled by default, providing users with the flexibility to customize their alerts. For those who prefer a quieter app experience, the option to disable notifications for new features and tips is now readily available.

Revamped UI for Gemini Spark

Meanwhile, Gemini Spark, which has recently expanded its reach to new regions, is also undergoing a subtle yet impactful redesign. The app now features a top navigation bar that categorizes tasks into segments such as “All,” “Scheduled,” and “Needs input.” This change is aimed at enhancing user navigation and task management.

Furthermore, the previous menu button located at the top-right corner has been replaced by a search icon, streamlining the interface and making it easier for users to locate specific tasks.

As these updates begin to roll out, users may experience varying timelines for availability, as Google’s updates can sometimes take time to reach all devices. For those eager to explore the new features, patience will be key as the enhancements make their way into the hands of users.
