Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has had a tumultuous launch weekend, particularly for its PC version, which has faced a barrage of technical issues. Notably, Maximilian Christiansen, widely recognized in the fighting game community as Maximilian Dood, publicly expressed his frustrations by uninstalling the game during a livestream. This incident has drawn significant attention to the challenges facing the title, developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Technical Troubles for PC Players
Launched on August 6 for both PC and PlayStation 5, Marvel Tokon appears to be functioning smoothly on the console, while PC players have encountered a myriad of problems. Many users have taken to the Steam page to voice their concerns, resulting in a rapid decline in the game’s ratings. Initially receiving a “Mixed” rating with 44% positive reviews, the score has now dropped to 41% overall and a concerning 39% in English reviews.
Maximilian Dood, a prominent figure in the gaming community, voiced his discontent during a livestream titled “Last day with PC version, sheesh.” He remarked, “This is bad, chat. I don’t think I can play this anymore,” highlighting how the technical issues detracted from his enjoyment of the game. He elaborated on the frustrations of experiencing stuttering gameplay, stating, “It’s un-fun when we have to deal with all this.”
As the weekend progressed without any significant fixes from Arc System Works, the sentiment among PC players grew increasingly negative. Dood ultimately decided to abandon the PC version, expressing his intention to switch exclusively to the PlayStation 5 version for future streams. “It’s too frustrating,” he stated, acknowledging the lack of cross-progression that would require him to start over on the console.
Console Experience Remains Positive
In contrast to the PC version’s struggles, the PlayStation 5 experience has been well-received. Dood confirmed this in a separate stream titled “PS5 version works, thank god,” where he reported smooth gameplay even with higher latency. “Tried Tokon on PS5 against only PS5 players and had a wonderful time,” he shared, emphasizing the stark difference in performance between the two platforms.
As players await a resolution to the ongoing issues with the PC version, the focus remains on whether Arc System Works can rectify the situation and win back the trust of its player base. For now, the console version stands as a beacon of hope amidst the turmoil, providing a satisfactory experience for those fortunate enough to play on PlayStation 5.
